Review: Afternoon Tea at Sudbury House Hotel

Afternoon Tea, a great British staple, Sudbury House, a great British Hotel! Combine the two and you're surely on to a winner!

Last Friday I had the pleasure and incredible opportunity to review the amazing Afternoon Tea experience at Sudbury House Hotel and incredible it most certainly was!

Just arriving at the gorgeous Sudbury House Hotel it's hard not to be taken aback by the beautiful building and grounds that surround this stunning former Regency residence. Stepping into the foyer the building's beauty just becomes more and more stunning. It's clear great care and attention has been taken to integrate the building's history into the modern design it is now.

As soon as we arrived we were swiftly escorted to this gorgeous, traditional lounge overlooking the beautifully kept gardens and were promptly served some delicious coffee. While we waited for our food the room was lit up with soothing jazz music which only complimented the atmosphere in the lounge. Soon after our incredibly attentive waitress arrived with a stunning selection of Afternoon Tea components and with great detail, described what we were about to tuck into! From delicious sandwiches, authentic scones and showstopping cakes we had to take a second to marvel at what was in front of us as we couldn't wait to try every part!

To start with we tucked into the selection of sandwiches. We enjoyed every single one of the delicious fillings, which ranged from Pickled Cucumber and Dill, Ham and Wholegrain Mustard all the way to the Hot Smoked Salmon filled roll. Trying each of these was a great way to set up my appetite for the sweeter portion of the tower. Starting with the plain and fruit Scones we dove straight in (Jam first or Cream first? I'll let you settle that debate when you go and try these!).

Now, the sweets, these were nothing short of spectacular. Everything from the Chocolate and Pecan Cake topped with a Nutella Macaroon to the Berry Teacake to the Fig Tart all the way to the Carrot Cake everything went down far too easily. The personal favourites of mine were the velvety smooth and rich Chocolate cake and the gloriously sweet and smooth Berry Teacake which took my childhood love of Tunnock's Tea Cakes to another level! These bitesize desserts were the perfect way to finish off an amazing selection of unique and individually brilliant Afternoon Tea components.

This brilliant Afternoon Tea was then followed by an intimate tour of the building's amazing features from Restaurant 56, Magnolia Brasserie to the absolutely incredible Suite 57 which looked an absolute dream to stay in! Sudbury House Hotel has many aspects that only makes you want to return again and again and try each individual part as it's clear they all have their own unique character and unique experiences.

If I could only use one word to describe the Afternoon Tea Experience at Sudbury House Hotel it would be WOW. This having being my first time ever sampling an Afternoon Tea, Sudbury House Hotel have set the bar incredibly high for any future experiences I have. With incredible food, an absolutely stunning location and attentive staff this will be an experience I will surely be back to enjoy time and time again! Huge thanks goes to the staff at Sudbury House Hotel for making our experience so seamless and enjoyable, you can definitely count on us returning again!
