REVIEW: Farm Foods New Menu

Recently I spoke to the team at Wiltshire Farm Foods and was very impressed by their ethics at that time when it came to Covid19 and their company response.

They've seen a growth in business as they supply nutritious food to anyone nationally and cater very much for the elderly and most vulnerable in our society.

One of those people is my father in law Dougie. He has dementia and receives care at home on a daily basis. Although always a keen cook himself, that's not possible or reliable any more for him to do his own unless there's a carer with him. He can forget that he's cooked something, think he's eaten it when he has not and that can be very dangerous. Hence we turned to Wiltshire Farm Foods. Since then he's been thrilled with the quality of the food and the certainty provided by having a delivery every week or fortnight. For his wider family we know he's getting good food at least once a day as we cannot be with him on a daily basis.

When the new menu came out, I was asked if I'd like to try one of the dishes and I jumped at the chance. I was spoiled for choice but was torn between Peter Vaughan’s Slow Cooked Beef with Onions and Dorset Ale and Jethro Lawrence’s Gammon in Somerset Cider Sauce. I opted for the latter.

When it turned up we had two to try and we followed the cooking instructions and then tried it for tea. Now food in a frozen meal pack doesn't always look appetising, especially when there's sauce involved. In the pack it can look a little watery. However once on the plate it was absolutely delicious. I'm not just saying that, I really mean it. I could have eaten the two meals myself (wasn't allowed to though!). The veg were as delicious as the gammon and sauce.

Many thanks to the team at Wiltshire Farm Foods for letting me sample a main meal from their summer menu.
