Review: Moody Burgers at Total HQ

When Moody Burgers opened in Swindon, we were all very excited at Total HQ. So when we got the opportunity to have some top-notch burgers delivered to the office one Monday afternoon, we were over the moon!

Moody Burgers offer restaurant-quality burgers from their kitchen right to your door. Usually they don’t open up until 5pm, but we got a special invitation to have a selection from their amazing menu hand-delivered to the office.

In the run up to 4pm, the team were all excitedly pouring through the menu (available online here) and imagining which burgers were on their way to us. At the stroke of four o'clock, there was a knock at the door and the wait was over! Served piping hot, our friendly driver handed over the goods, wished us well and hoped we enjoyed our meal. We immediately dropped all the work we were doing and set up in the meeting room, which would quickly be transformed into a buffet!

Our amazing smorgasbord consisted of:

Mighty Moo...dy Stack Burger – The jewel in the crown of the Moody Burger menu, a double-patty, double-cheese, double-bacon, double onion ring behemoth with added crispy fried onions and bacon jam, just for good measure.

Big Hog Burger – A pork and chorizo patty topped with homemade barbecue pulled-pork, streaky bacon, Monterey Jack cheese, crispy onions and the world’s tastiest invention: baconnaise.

Bacon Cheese Burger – A simpler burger compared to the other two but it still went down an absolute storm! The 100% British beef patty is topped with Monterey Jack and smoky streaky bacon. Simple!

And then came the sides:

Loaded Hog Fries – Imagine a box of deliciously crispy fries, seasoned to perfection. Just the right amount of crispiness and fluffiness. Now imagine them topped with barbecue pulled-pork, baconnaise and a gooey cheese sauce. And no, they were BETTER than they sound! (If that’s even possible)

Big Dogg Fries – The same tasty fries, but this time topped with sliced up bratwurst, and coated in the holy trinity of sauces; ketchup, mustard, and cheese sauce, plus crispy onions.

Chilli Cheese Fries – Chilli beef, jalapenos, and cheese sauce, Together with the chips. These could have been a dinner on their own!

We washed the food down with three different flavours of milkshake; strawberry, chocolate and a toffee and fudge which was my personal favourite. You’d expect this from Moody Burgers, but the milkshakes are lovely and thick, made from just ice cream and milk topped with whipped cream, giving a really satisfying texture and flavour.

The food was, as you can see, amazing. But don’t just take my word for it, here’s what the team had to say:

"A nice team morale boost for a cold Monday afternoon! Definitely make sure you’re hungry when you order; the portions are extremely generous. I skipped on the burgers as I was heading for the gym, but ate a few too many of the chips which were delicious. My favourite out of the three were the Big Dogg Fries; the sausage and cheese topping didn’t over-power the taste or make the crunchy fries soggy. Followed closely by the Chilli Cheese Fries – the chili had the perfect chilli kick. This could have been a meal in itself!"

I took care of the Mighty Moo…dy Stack Burger, which was pretty tough but I powered through! Moody Burgers are great in the fact that they don’t just do BIG burgers, they taste amazing, too and are clearly made with great care. You can tell they love what they do."
