REVIEW: Roves Farm Fresh Food Supplies
The impact of Coronavirus on businesses is huge, which is why at Total Swindon, we’re keen to support our local, independent businesses in every way we can. Rather than queuing for our essentials at the supermarket, we decided to pay a visit to Roves Farm’s online shop, where they’re selling home-grown vegetable boxes, fresh meat and lots more essentials to Click and Collect. Read on to see what we thought!
Roves Farm is a working farm located just outside of Swindon, so all their produce is local to Wiltshire and home-grown. When we saw the Roves Farm Shop advertising their Click and Collect service, we knew we had to try it! Their online shop is really easy to use, separated into different meat, bakery, dairy and vegetable sections so you can easily find what you’re looking for. We decided to opt for a vegetable box, priced at £14.50 which had a range of veg including fresh carrots, broccoli, potatoes, onions, peppers, tomatoes and cauliflower.
We also purchased their £30 Meat Box, which is designed to feed four for a whole week – meaning we haven’t had to leave the house for meals since! The meat box included a whole chicken, four pork steaks, lamb mince, eight pork sausages, diced chicken, dry-cured bacon and a pork, lamb or beef roasting joint. We all agreed that all of this fresh, high-quality meat for just £30 was an absolute bargain!
Once we’d placed our order, we were told we could collect it just a few days later from their shop near Sevenhampton (just a few miles outside of Swindon). When we collected our order on the Saturday, we didn’t even have to enter the shop so that customers don't need to worry about picking up the virus from others, which is very considerate of them. We simply gave the friendly team at Roves Farm Shop our name, and they handed us the box outside with all our goodies in – and that was it! It's as simple as that!
The joint of lamb went down a treat for our Sunday Roast, and everyone agreed that it was the BEST lamb we had ever tasted. It was incredibly tender, with plenty of flavour and it went down a treat with mint sauce drizzled over it. What’s even better, is that we managed to feed four people over three days! Bonus! Needless to say, the pork loins, sausages and chicken equally went down a treat with the whole family – we were thoroughly spoilt!
The vegetables have also lasted us throughout the week, accompanying our delicious Roves Farm sausages and mash made from the potatoes as well as the pork steaks, chicken and bacon. Roves Farm Shop offers such a large, diverse range of food, including bakery items such as homemade cakes, bread and waffles, and dairy items such as milk and butter. We’ve already put another order in for next week so we can sample more of these delicious treats!
Roves Farm is working so hard to provide the essentials for our local community during this tough time, so let’s support them and #ShopLocal and keep #BackingSwindon businesses if you can during these testing times. A huge thank you to Roves Farm for providing us with such an excellent service – we look forward to coming back and picking up our next order very soon!
