To sample the flavour of delicious drinks, from sparkling wine to craft beer, and everything in between, you can head to one of the vineyards and breweries near Swindon.

Wine tours and beer tastings are a great opportunity to take part in a unique and fun activity this summer. Exploring rows of grape vines grown here in Wiltshire while soaking in the sun outdoors is a summer afternoon well spent!

Paulton Hill

About/Tours: Paulton Hill offers a tour through their countryside vine yard, so visitors can witness the growth of grapes used in their wines and spirits. Their tours include a talk about Paulton Hills history and how they maintain their vine yard. Also available is a Cellar Door guided tasting, which includes sampling one of their exquisite sparkling wines, three of their carefully crafted still wines and learning about their award-winning spirits.

Snacks are available for purchase, but no food is included in the tasting. The total amount of wine served will be equivalent to a small glass, ensuring you are within legal limits to drive. Spittoons are provided for your convenience.

  • Tours & tastings are held on various dates, beginning at 11:00am - duration approximately 1 ½ hours.
  • Spring/Summer the Cellar Door is open Tuesday – Friday 9am - 4pm and Saturday 11am - 3pm.
  • Winter the Cellar Door is open 09:30  to 15:30, Tuesday to Friday.

a’Beckett’s Vineyard

About/Tours: The Langham Family Vineyard at a’Beckett’s have been making award winning wine for over 20 years. With an ethose of continuing to make great wine and have as much fun as possible, you can purchase from their online shop. a'Beckett's vineyard is located in Littleton Panell some 4 miles south of Devizes on the A360 and provide free delivery across Wiltshire! Alternatively, beverages can be collacted from the vineyard or shipped to mainland UK at a charge.  Available is their apple juice, English sparkling wine, red Pinot Nior and Rosé which are all vegan.

Southcott Vineyard

About/Tours: Situated under the White Horse in Wiltshire, Southcott is a small, family run vineyard on the outskirts of the charming village of Pewsey, making sparkling wine. This boutique vine yard offers Classic Champagne grapes, Chardonnay, Pinot noir and Pinot meunier. Established in 2005, this award-winning vine yard holds and attends events where visitors can taste their wines or get stuck in with harvest season!

Their Southcott Brut Vintage 2018 Classic is available for purchase as singluar bottles of in a case of six. A free personalised note can be added to gifting orders.

Bluestone

About/Tours: Bluestone Vineyards are an agile producer that prioriste creating high quality wine through experimenting and prioritising excellence with hand-harvested, vinified grapes. This operates in four planted parcels of vines at Three Acre, Iron Age, Roundhouse and Top Field, neighbouring their family farm. 

Tour their vineyards and individual parcels and hear the highlights of the growing season, how Bluestone produce premium grapes for sparkling wines and more. After the tour expereince a tutored tasting in their Vineyard Barn of their Sparkling Classic Cuvee & Sparkling Cuvee Rosé. Tastings can be accompannied with a cheese and charcuterie lunch platter as an additional package.

Bow in the Cloud

About/Tours: Situated just outside Malsmesbury, Bow in the Cloud is three planted acres of vines. One of bacchus, schonburger and seyval blanc. Standing for over 30 years, Bow in the Cloud is a small production vineyard, selling approximately 2,000 bottles of still wine per year.

On a range of weekends throughout the year, tours and tasting take place at Bow in the Cloud. With a friendly, informal tone visitors can stroll the vine yard for 30 minutes - 1 hour. Visitors can opt for a selection of local cheeses with bread or biscuits to enjoy during the wine tasting.

Quoins Organic Vineyard

About/Tours: Quoins Organic Vineyard, a traditional and small vine yard, prides itself on using all organic fertilisers, herbicides and pesticides. With one hetacre of vines, this location makes 3000 bottles of award-winning wine per year. 

Running from April - September, tours and tasting at Quoins let visitors be informed on organic grape growing. Lasting 2 hours, tours and tastings begin with a welcome glass of wine followed by a casual walk around the vine yard and orchards. Visitors can try in season fruits, different vintage wines and take part in a blind tasting. With confirmation from Quoins, tourers can also use of the vineyard for their own activities such as rounders or a picnic!

The Brewery Tap & Shop

About/Tours: Established in 1875, this Wadworth brewery has invested into making traditional ales. At the Brewery Tap & Shop, you can find Horizon, 6X, Henry's IPA and Folly Road craft beers. Over 140 pubs in South West England are owned by the Brewery Tap & Shop.

Their online shop is currently running with cans, bottles, merch and gift ideas. At the end of Summer 2024, their new in-person store will be opened! Following this, their historic tours around Devizes will resume completed with ale tasting and talks by an experienced guide. Until then, beer lovers can catch the Brewery Tap & Shop at local events.

Woodchester Valley Vineyard

About/Tours: Woodchester Valley Vineyard create an assortment of English still and sparkling wines, encompassing white, rosé, and red varieties, produced from a selection of grape types planted across their three vineyard sites in the Cotswolds AONB, which span a total of 58 acres. The grapes are handpicked and gently pressed, then undergo a slow, cool fermentation process to maintain the aromatic and fruit qualities characteristic of their cool climate wines.

They offer guided vineyard and winery tours along with hosted wine tastings throughout the year in a tasting room with stunning views over the vineyard and valley. Their classic and premium tours, available year-round, are complemented by a busy schedule of special events like Fizz & Chips evenings and the popular Vineyard Tour & Dog Walk. All tours and events are for guests over 18 only.
