Best Nights Out in Swindon
But it's cold outside
When the winter nights are dark, cold, and miserable, it is tempting to snuggle down on the sofa and not go out until spring comes knocking. We are all feeling the squeeze from rising prices. In addition, spending on festivities means most of us have severely depleted bank balances to boot. So going out might be the last thing on our mind, particularly when you have everything on tap from the convenience of the couch.
Netflix and Disney+ let us watch all the up-to-date releases. All4 offers a free streaming service with tonnes of original British box sets and films. If you fancy something a little more interactive, there is the most fantastic selection of online casinos to play from home. You can even play alongside other people with the option of live dealer games. Social media and chat services let us keep up to date with friends and family. Why go out? It's miserable out there.
A night out is good for the soul
However, sometimes a night out is just what you need. Seeing friends in real life or watching a play at the theatre can sometimes be refreshing and a brilliant reset for the mind and body. The good news is that it does not have to cost a fortune, either. Hardly any of those at-home activities come without a price tag. February is a great time to come out of hibernation and face the world again.
If you are getting out, it is an excellent idea to do something you cannot replicate at home. Therefore, think about going to a live show. No matter how wonderful a film or series is, nothing can beat the excitement of watching something up close and happening in front of a live audience.
The Wyvern Theatre
The Wyvern Theatre has an ever-changing program of live events covering theatre, music, and comedy. First, Great British Bake Off's Prue Leith is bringing her funny new show to Swindon. She promises that nothing is off the menu here. Then later in the year, Tony Blackburn will be hosting an evening of 60s classics.
Head to the 80s
If the 80s are more your era, you will not want to miss out on 80s Live at Meca Swindon. It might be a tribute show, but these performers will help you make it through the wilderness to make you feel shiny and new. That might be a mash of lyrics, but if you get the references, you will love this extravaganza. A blend of pop and soft-rock, artists will perform smash hits from Madonna, Wham, Rick Astley, Duran Duran, and The Human League, to name but a few. The show is touring the UK and will rock into Swindon on 18th February. The venue also hosts club nights and a family roller disco.
Dance Late into the night
Dancing around the kitchen is fun, but nothing beats a late-night bar with a DJ spinning the discs at loud volume. You can dance the night away at Edge. The resident DJ here hosts his Jay Hayden Garden Party, and you are invited to join the jams in the garden. With all-night dancing, the bar sells wine, beer, and premium spirits. In addition, they often run promotions on special drinks so you could enjoy a very happy hour here.
Sipping on champagne and cocktails
If you fancy some swanky treatment, look no further than Tree. This popular nightclub is situated in central Swindon. They serve handcrafted martinis, champagne, and premium spirits. The house DJs serve up some banging tunes to get everyone dancing. In addition, Tree has special VIP booths complete with waitress service where you can get away from the crowds.
There is so much to do in the city that it would be a pity to miss out. You don't have to go mad, but you do deserve to let your hair down sometimes.
