Chloe Yandell, an accomplished artist and trained art teacher, draws inspiration from her local surroundings, utilising texture and mark-making to create atmospheric narratives in her paintings.
Having studied Fine Art at Bath Spa University College, Chloe works from her studio in Corsham, Wiltshire, where she continuously experiments with various materials to discover their potential.
Chloe believes that art is a dialogue between the artist, the audience, and the gallery, allowing viewers to interpret her work through their own experiences.
This exhibition will feature Chloe’s signature style of work, primarily on wood and her handmade canvases, layered with intricate mark-making techniques. She emphasises the importance of the materials, stating, “People often look at a piece of art and wonder, ‘What does it mean?’ I like that my work will mean one thing to me, but it will ring an echo of something in someone else.”
A unique highlight of this exhibition is Chloe’s innovative use of organ toe boards sourced from a reformed church in Chippenham. These beautiful materials will be restored and transformed, creating a conceptual narrative that invites the audience to engage with their own hidden memories and connections.
Jennifer Allison, Gallery Manager at The View, expressed her excitement about the exhibition, stating, 'We're so pleased to welcome Chloe to the Gallery and to have the opportunity to share her art. I first met Chloe when I visited her studio as part of the Peacocks Art Trail, before the Gallery was even open to the public. I knew straightaway that her style and approach was something unique.”
Jennifer added, “We were so pleased that Chloe said yes to a solo exhibition, and having now seen her at the Manchester Art Fair and The Other Art Fair in London, it's clear to see that her work is only increasing in popularity amongst buyers across the UK. We can't wait to bring her collection together in one place for visitors to enjoy.'
In conjunction with the exhibition, Chloe Yandell will host a free exclusive talk at The View Gallery on Wednesday, November 6, 2024. This event promises to be an insightful opportunity to hear directly from the artist about her creative process and the themes present in her work. Due to limited seating, early booking is highly recommended.
Admission to The View Gallery is free, inviting visitors to explore the exhibition at their leisure. Please note that opening hours will be Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 10 AM to 4 PM during Chloe’s exhibition.
