Enchanted Gardens Light Trail launches in Swindon
Swindon’s Enchanted Gardens Christmas light trail opened last night as Town Gardens in Old Town was transformed into a magical festive experience boasting lights, projections, and illuminated installations.
Created by the South Swindon Parish Council, the Enchanted Gardens Light Trail is the first event of its kind in Swindon and opened last night to media and VIPs before opening to the public for the first time tonight.
Running until December 31st, the new Christmas light trail features state-of-the-art lighting effects including illuminated trees, light art sculptures, soundscapes, and interactive illuminations, visitors travel on a 30-minute magical trail around the famous Town Gardens, providing a festive experience like no other.
Tickets start from £6 and can be booked online or paid on arrival at their box office with £1 from every ticket going to Swindon’s Brighter Futures charity.

One of the organisers of the event was South Swindon Parish Councillor, Neil Hopkins, who said:
“Light trails are one of these events that everyone can enjoy and very much happen all over the place at this time of year.
“I saw one light trail last year, and the same company Luminism are doing the lighting for our event.
“I thought the Town Gardens are made for this kind of event and they said this was one of the best locations they have covered so this light trail is up there with the best.
“It’s about making use of the space but also in the longer-term refurbishing the Town Gardens bowl and we have a major project in refurbishing that but the only way you can do that is by using it and bringing in revenue.
“You can book online through Skiddle or you can come along on the night. It is best to book in advance because some wave times are selling out.
“The light trail is running every day throughout December apart from Christmas and Boxing Day.”
Giving his thoughts on the new festive experience, Deputy Mayor Coun Abdul Amin said:
“This is an amazing event and the first time something like this has been done in Swindon.
“With everything that has happened the last few years this is definitely something that was needed to give spirit to the people of Swindon.
“I think it is a wonderful thing the South Swindon Parish Council has done and I am delighted they have done it.
“I would encourage everyone in Swindon and Wiltshire to come and have an evening here because it is a wonderful festive experience to enjoy with the whole family.
“This is a Covid-friendly atmosphere but I would still encourage everyone to take precautionary measures by practicing social distancing and wearing your masks when in large gatherings.”
