Jahmene Brings the X Factor to Swindon!

Swindon town centre will really get the X Factor treatment as finalist Jahmene Douglas joins inSwindon BID for the official light Switch-On this Wednesday!

The singing sensation will be back in his hometown to join in with a huge celebration of everything that's been 'great' in Britain this year.

The event will officially get underway at 5.00pm when inSwindon BID welcome the local Olympians, Paralympians and Torch Bearers who helped make this year’s Olympic and Paralympic Games so special.

Swindon Town manager Paolo Di Canio and members of his League 2 title-winning side will also be making an appearance as we congratulate them on their footballing success in 2012.

And as if that wasn’t enough, there will be a special celebration with the Swindon Robins in honour of their fantastic recent achievement - winning the Elite League Title, for the first time in 45 years!

The evening will also see entertaining performances from some of Swindon’s finest talent including The Riffs Traveling Dance Band, Ovation Dance, Swindon Dance and a comedy performance from local up-and-coming star Tomi Fry.

The lights will be switched on at 7.00pm, before a dazzling firework display and some great live music close the evening's festivities.

Attendance is completely free, but make sure you get to Wharf Green early to get a good spot!

inSwindon do anticipate this event will be busy, so recommend the following advice in terms of travel.

Driving into town could well be tough on the day so you may be better making alternative travel arrangements.

For those driving we suggest car sharing with others that will be attending and if you don’t live too far away we advise walking or cycling into town.
