Paintings from the Swindon Collection Go on Exhibit
Swindon Museum & Art Gallery has one of the best collections of modern art works by twentieth century and contemporary British artists.
And what better way to show these off than with a new exhibition of some of our most colourful, dramatic and energetic works from the Swindon Collection, featuring paintings by Roger Hilton, Howard Hodgkin, George Melhuish & Stephen Buckley.
Action! Is the new exhibition at the Swindon Museum & Art Gallery and is on display from Saturday 8th February through to Saturday 31st May. It’s FREE to look around and open Wednesday till Saturday, 11am – 3pm
In this new exhibition, you will see bold, colourful and dramatic art by a range of different artists. The works include abstract portraits and landscapes, as well as non-representational works.
Garry Perkins, Cabinet Member for Economy, Regeneration and Culture said “This is a great opportunity for people to see abstract art up close, and for visitors to make up their own minds what they think of it, personally I’m a big fan of modern art and some of the works going on display are stunning – full of colour, movement, life and energy.”
Over the next few years, Swindon Museum & Art will regularly be updating their displays to make the Swindon Collection accessible to the people of Swindon. This will include some recently acquired contemporary paintings which have never been displayed before.
