REVIEW: Looking Good Dead at Wyvern Theatre
Based on the riveting Detective Roy Grace series by author Peter James, Looking Good Dead is the second book in the series and is currently showing at The Wyvern Theatre until Saturday.
It was great to be back at The Wyvern and this was a cracking play to kickstart the season. Adam Woodyatt from Eastenders was superb as Tom Bryce, a husband and father who is struggling to keep his business afloat, with Gaynor Faye of Coronation Street and Emmerdale fame, playing his wife Kellie and Luke Ward-Wilkinson as his youngest son, Max. Without exception the cast were excellent, and this thriller of a play kept us glued to our seats until the very end with a fair few twists and turns along the way.
The premise of ‘no good deed goes unpunished’ is brought to life in this engrossing story when Tom picks up a USB stick left on the train with the intention of returning it to its owner and ends up witnessing a brutal murder. When contacting the police ends up putting his family in imminent danger, it’s a race against time for Detective Superintendent Roy Grace, brilliantly played by actor Harry Long, to solve the case.
When the curtains came down for intermission we had no hesitation in heading to the ice cream parlour in the foyer where we were greeted by friendly staff and an array of delicious ice creams. From Raspberry Ripple Pavlova, Mango Sorbet, White Chocolate and honeycomb, to Mint Choc Chip and Blackcurrents with Clotted Cream, we really were spoilt for choice.
This is a great evening’s entertainment so don’t miss it!
