Review: Peter Pan Goes Wrong

If you’re a fan of traditional English slapstick then you’re be in for a real treat with Peter Pan Goes Wrong.

The Cornley Polytechnic Drama Society set out to present J.M. Barrie’s classic tale of Peter Pan, but as the title suggests, everything that can go wrong…does, as the accident prone thesps embark on a thrilling adventure to Neverland, with hilariously disastrous results.

Think of it as the Faulty Towers of panto, and you’ll be on the right track for this hilarious production of witty humour and awkward encounters. If you’ve got a spare evening, then we’d highly recommend a trip to the Wyvern Theatre to enjoy this laugh a minute comedy.

The play has been brought to you by Mischief Theatre and is set around the fictional Cornley Polytechnic Drama Society’s Christmas pantomime production of Peter Pan, and as the title so aptly portrays, a lot goes wrong...

With such perfectly created disasters, you’ll find yourself questioning each and every mishap, was it staged or did it really just go wrong?

The misfits of the society's cast perfectly preform to keep you on your toes, in full cringe and with side-splitting laughter, as they take you on their adventure to the infamous Neverland.

All your favourite characters (un)gracefully take centre stage, followed by all levels of theatrical disasters from fires, impromptu car alarms and Pan’s obvious lack of flying etiquette.

Highlights of the show include the performance from mature student, Robert Grove (Cornelius Booth), who is thrown in at the last minute to play a somewhat elderly, bearded version of Michael Darling. And, let’s not forget the sympathetic portrayal of Max Bennett (Matt Cavendish), who won his place in the panto thanks to a generous donation by his uncle, and not his glowing audition skills.

Don't miss this hysterical new laugh-out-loud comedy. Guaranteed fun for everyone, especially adults.
