Review: Rock of Ages performance at the Wyvern Theatre
TGt had the fantastic opportunity of going to see the opening night of the fantastic performance, Rock of Ages at the Wyvern Theatre on the 8th July 2019! Read our review below to find out what we thought...
We always love visiting Swindon's Wyvern Theatre and tonight we went to see Rock of Ages. On this occasion having not seen the movie, I was truly unsure what to expect. So I was surprised to have been so thrilled to have been to see Rock of Ages as it’s funny, witty and as some would say, ‘quite raunchy’.
Rock of Ages is on show from the 8th July 2019 through to the 13th July 2019. It was certainly a full house and we advise you look at tickets over the next couple of days, as it’s nearly fully booked for the weekend and it's certainly not to be missed!
Rock of Ages is a musical based on 80’s rock ‘n’ roll, the room was full of atmosphere from the first 10 seconds of the musical beginning. From the second the count down begins, the room is clapping and in laughter once the musical begins and there’s not a moment your eyes will be off the stage.
Kevin Clifton the winner of Strictly Come Dancing 2018 plays the lead role of ‘Stacee Jaxx’. Act 1 begins with instant engagement with the audience and you will see many musical numbers from Feel The Noize, We Built This City, I Wanna Rock and so many others. Act 1 ends with here I go again and with no illusion the audience are all clapping and cheering.
Act 2 begins with The final countdown and for sure continued to ramp up the rock factor, which then takes you through to end the show with Don’t Stop Believing. Every single person in the audience were up on their feet during Don’t Stop Believing, singing, dancing and clapping.
The band were fantastic and I love the fact they're on stage most of the night in the middle of the crew. If you need some cheering up this week or want to go and enjoy a fantastic night of 80’s Rock with lots of laughter, raunch and fantastic performances, then I would certainly book now as the musical ends on Saturday the 13th.
