Sixth Sense's The Macbeth Curse Almost Ready to Roll
Writer of Sixth Sense Theatre’s next play The Macbeth Curse, Terry Deary was thrilled to be shown the concluding model for this 2016 production.
With this fame down to Horrible Histories, Terry has written The Macbeth Curse specifically for the theatre. Swindon and Wiltshire schools will be the first to see this madly magical mix of Shakespeare and music hall songs; all set in an Victorian theatre!
Terry Deary began his career as an actor himself before turning to writing professionally, just like Shakespeare. Talking about The Macbeth Curse, Terry said: “Shakespeare wrote to entertain audiences of all ages and classes. If he failed he’d be out of work. He transported his audiences to other worlds using the magic of theatre so my play is also a fun way of exploring Shakespeare’s great story and the great tricks of theatre.”
Terry Deary being shown the final model by designer, Ellen Nabarro. Ellen has just designed Henry IV on Broadway for London's Donmar theatre.
The Macbeth Curse is set to be directed by Sixth Sense's Artistic Director, Mark Powell. The play centre’s around arrogant Sir Alphonse King and his 'Sixty Minute Shakespeare Ensemble' rehearsing Macbeth for a Royal Command Performance. With both props and actors going missing, the performers are soon struggling against spookily unexpected circumstances. Have they fallen foul of the infamous Macbeth Curse?
The Macbeth Curse tours Swindon schools from February 1st to March 24th
