Swindon Lives: AJ - Big Arts Day Special
We caught up with Big Arts Day's headline act, AJ, ahead of the free Swindon musical event on Saturday July 14, at Lydiard Park.
What made you want to get involved with Swindon’s Big Arts Day?
Swindon Big Arts Day is great for Swindon, It brings together an audience that you wouldn’t necessarily get at a normal gig as its all ages and free.
It’s a great opportunity for the local musicians and performers. I’ve been involved in every BAD so far and want to be involved in the years to come as it’s by far the biggest event in Swindon’s calendar.
Apart from the obvious, what’s your favourite type of music?
Reggae.
If you could duet with any singer, who would it be?
Ed Sheeran.
Describe your act in three words…
Lyrical, Energetic, Fun
What is your favourite track to perform?
Monday Morning
A gig to a large crowd, or a small, intimate performance?
Large crowed but also love the intimate gigs, either way will always give the same energy to the performance.
What sets you apart from the rest?
The word play and style, our sound is modern but heavily influenced by reggae and the hip hop sound of the ‘90s.
If you could give one piece of advice to budding artists, what would it be?
Make it happen.
Who is your idol and why?
Sizzla as he has many different styles, he has made many albums and his live performances are crazy.
What is the best piece of advice you have ever been given?
Work hard and play harder.
