Let's Talk
Swindon Lives - Louisa Lytton - Boogie Nights Special
In our latest edition of Swindon Lives, we caught up with the loveley Louisa Lytton. The former Eastender and Boogie Nights star opened up about her latest stage role and the possibility of a return to Walford.
Boogie Nights is set in the seventies but if you could visit any period in time, when would it be and why?
I’d love to go back to the 1960’s, I absolutely adore the fashion and music from that era.
When you’re not on stage, how do you like to spend your spare time?
As boring as it sounds, I love reading and socialising. Touring the country and being away from home so much with the show means that I don’t get to see my friends and family an awful lot, so it’s great to have a catch up when I have a bit of free time.
Do you think your time on Strictly Come Dancing helped you prepare for the role at all?
Yeah definitely, everybody likes a extra bit of practice don’t they? I love dancing, it’s a great way to keep fit and stay in shape. I actually trained at Sylvia Youngs when I was little, so dance has been a huge part of my life from an early age. Boogie Nights is the first ever musical I’ve starred in.
What would your dream role be?
I’d love to be in a biopic of some kind. I think it would be really interesting to star in someone’s life story; I just haven’t worked out who I’d like to play yet.
Do you have any idols that inspired you to become an actress?
I’m sure I’ve admired the odd Hollwood star every now and then but I’ve never really had an idol who inspired me to become an actress.
From a young age all I wanted to do was perform and entertain people and I guess that’s where my drive came from. I wasn’t too sure which part of the industry I wanted to work in; I just wanted to do what I loved.
Who’s the most famous person in your phonebook?
That depends who you consider to be famous, I know loads of people in the industry but you might not think they’re famous at all.
I guess the one that everyone’s sure to know is Aston Merrygold from JLS. He lives in Peterborough and I have family there so I’ve known him ever since I was little. I went to school with Rita Ora but don’t have her phone number.
Describe yourself in 3 words…
Oh God, this is such a hard one! I think i'd have to say; scatty, small, fun
Which do you prefer, television, movie or stage work?
My favorite to work in, is television but saying that I love being on the stage too, you just can’t beat the feeling you get performing to a live audience.
Do you miss working on Eastenders?
I owe my career to Eastenders, it was my big break. I was a baby when I first started. I was still at school when I joined the soap. Thankfully the cast and crew couldn’t have been lovelier, I do still really miss them all. I wouldn't rule out going back some day.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years’ time?
Hollywood would be my absolute dream but as long as I’m still working and still enjoying what I do – that’s good enough for me!
Boogie Nights will run at the Wyvern Theatre from Monday 15th of April to Saturday 20th of April 2013.
