The Gig to Remember Needs the Support of the Business Community
Amanda Franks, Director at Swindon based recruitment agency Frankly Recruitment is set to host a charity concert to raise money for Alzheimer’s Research UK.
On November 8th 2014 at the Oasis in Swindon, Amanda is putting on a show she is calling “The Gig to Remember”. It will be a positive event with music that spans the generations; as Alzheimer’s disease does.
“The Gig to Remember” will bring the worlds most acclaimed Beatles Band The Bootleg Beatles to Swindon for the first time. Also on the bill will be You Tube sensation, unique Duke from Cheltenham.
To ensure that the event raises and retains the maximum amount for Alzheimer’s Research UK “The Gig to Remember” needs a sponsor. Amanda said “We need a minimum of £10k sponsorship to make this event truly “The Gig to Remember”. I am of course asking a lot of an organisation but what better a cause and without a doubt it will be a charity close to many hearts.”
“Alzheimer’s Research UK Press team are pulling out all the stops. With radio advertising, e-tickets, and an aggressive regional marketing plan our intention is that everybody hears about this event and we would love to work with a business to create the maximum impact from the event”.
44% of the UK will know a close friend or family member with dementia and 64,000 people in the UK are under 65 with dementia. Dementia receives 12 times less charitable investment and government medical research funding than cancer researches yet dementia costs the UK economy more than cancer and heart disease combined.
Amanda says, “These statistics, published by Alzheimer’s Research UK, are what spurred me into doing something big to raise funds. My mum can’t be saved but with the numbers growing I can start to highlight this massive issue and get people to understand dementia is not a normal part of aging.”
“Alzheimer’s disease is cruel. I have watched my mum turn from the centre of our family to a compliant shell of her former self, wandering the corridors of a care home. Being only 64 her physically healthy body is likely to go on for many more years. My true aim is to raise awareness of early onset Alzheimer’s disease. People who are raising children, working and in the prime of their lives are struck down and their families left in limbo in silent grief.”
