REVIEW: The Mousetrap at The Wyvern Theatre
On Monday 18th March, we had the pleasure of visiting The Wyvern Theatre to watch Agatha Christie's famous whodunnit play, The Mousetrap, now celebrating its 70th year and its clear to see why audiences from all over the world both new and returning flock year after year to see this incredible show.
I saw the show over 30 years ago and couldn't wait to return taking my daughter along to introduce her to this classic show and pass on this legacy.
The play opens with news of a murder in London and seven strangers find themselves snowed in during a blizzard at Monkswell Manor Guesthouse set in the English Countryside. The play is thoroughly up to date and relatable eventhough it was set in 1952.
Staring Gwyneth Strong of Only Fools and Horses, Todd Carty of Grange Hill and Eastenders, the cast is excellent.
For our performance the role of Mollie Ralston was played by Hollie Sullivan who was fantastic in the role. To me though there were no stand out performances as all the characters were truly excellent, superb interplay and acting. Enthralling from start to finish.
No spoilers here but suffice to say you will be hooked from the start.
A clever combination of humour, suspense, red herrings will leave you guessing and second guessing throughout.
We did not solve the murder mystery and gasped along with the rest of the audience at the clever twists in the tale.
A must see. Heres to another 70 Years of The Mousetrap. Utterly magnificent.
Playing at The Wyvern Theatre Swindon from Wednesday 20th - Saturday 23rd March book your tickets here.
