Urban Beach Experience starts this week!

A taste of the seaside is just around the corner in Swindon town centre, where the ever-popular Urban Beach Experience will return for 8 days, between 1st - 8th August.

Complete with deckchairs, buckets and spades, seaside music, food, picnic zone, rock painting, stalls, peep board and a GIANT deck chair for those summer holiday photo opportunities; visitors can enjoy 8 days of entertainment, all completely FREE, from 10am-5pm daily.

An Al Fresco picnic zone will be available for visitors to enjoy food from the stalls and local eateries in the town centre and is sponsored by the Swindon Advertiser, who will be providing FREE daily newspapers for beach lovers.

inSwindon BID CEO, Di Powell said “We are so excited to be launching the Swindon Town Centre Festival after the success of last year’s Urban Beach. It’s so positive that the event is growing in its second year. With a whole programme of activity happening in August, the town centre will definitely be the place to be.”

There will also be a variety of fairground stalls and rides including teacups, trampolining, hook-a-duck and tin-can alley, all for a small charge. Plus, trade and information stands will feature on various days including The Slush Shack as well as promotional stands including The Wyvern TheatreMetro Bank and Metro Man, The Crossing, Swindon Advocacy and Swindon Dance.

Extra daily activities will take place at the beach from 11am-3pm including Sand Art Workshops on Thursday 1st August and Family Beach Olympics on Friday 2nd August which will feature games such as beach limbo, water relay, sack races and more!

Anytime Fitness will be challenging beach-goers on Saturday 3rd August with an exclusive Beat the PT Challenge between 11am-3pm in Wharf Green.

Visitors can grab a FREE summer snap at the exclusive beach themed FOTOBox on Sunday 4th August and Monday 5th August will see traditional Punch and Judy shows at 11:30am, 12:30pm and 1:30pm.

A day of beach fitness is planned on Saturday 6th August, where KISS Gym will be offering the Press-up challenge at 11:30am and 1:30pm and the Partnered Exercise Challenge at 12:30pm and 2:30pm.

Plus, Buzz Gym will also be hosting Legs, Bums n’ Tums at 11:30am-12:00pm and Beach Yoga at 1:30pm-2:30pm on the same day.

On Wednesday 7th August inSwindon BID will host a Family Beach Party featuring a children’s DJ, games and prizes as well as performances from local acoustic acts, including Jordy Pearce.

inSwindon BID are also looking to welcome local community groups, clubs and bands to use the spaces free of charge and showcase their talent across the Festival month as well as perform at the Family Beach Party on 7th August. If you would like to perform please contact [email protected].

Organised by inSwindon BID Company, the new Swindon Town Centre Festival will celebrate everything on offer throughout the Summer holidays in the town centre, with over 30 FREE events which includes Wacky Wednesdays organised by The Brunel Shopping Centre from 11am-3pm every Wednesday in August and the Summer Garden at Regent Circus which takes place daily until 2nd September.
