South Swindon Parish Council hosting August family fun day

South Swindon Parish Council, Nepalese Association of Wiltshire and Nationwide Building Society are hosting a free Family Fun Day on 27th August at Buckhurst Field between 10am and 3pm.

There will be a variety of stalls from various organisations and local groups. Face painting will be on offer from Face’s with Kelly and Fantasyface4u. There will also be other entertainers in the form of the Swindon Stilt Walkers and Mad Pete!  

Assisting the Parish Council with the running of this event are the Nepalese Association of Wiltshire, who are a community group with the aim of uniting the Nepalese community in and around Swindon. They will be providing food and entertainment on the day.   

Nationwide are also a main sponsor of the event. Nationwide have become part of the community of the last few years, building a new neighbourhood, Oakfield; 239 eco-friendly, community focused homes on Marlowe Avenue. Their show home will open in Autumn this year. 

ATBShop will be attending the Buckhurst Skate Park between 11am and 2pm to host a free skateboarding and scooter workshop with displays, games and competitions.  

Circus Sensible will be putting on a circus skills workshop and shows throughout the day. Circus Skills covered in the workshops can include juggling with balls and scarves, Chinese diabolo, beginners stilts, plate spinning and lots more.  

Hand to Mouth Theatre will be at the event delivering unique puppet theatre performances. The puppet theatre company have been delighting audiences with their witty and whimsical puppet performances at festivals for over 40 years.  

For all the dog lovers in the Parks and Walcot Area, SNDogs will be in attendance. They will have a stall and be hosting a dog show for people to enter with their dogs for a chance to win some prizes.  

There will also be a DJ and other live music throughout the day. Bouncy castles and other inflatables will be provided by Bouncy R Us.  

Wiltshire Police, St John’s Ambulance and Wiltshire and Dorset Fire Service will also be attending the event.
