Your Total Guide To family

Make this summer count

Put the home schooling away! Youth development charity, the Youth Adventure Trust, has everything you need to make this summer count. The Summer of Adventure is here to help families get outside and have some fun together over the summer holidays.

People up and down the country are heaving a huge sigh of relief as the home learning can be packed away for a few weeks. But now what? Adventure and outdoor activity are at the heart of what the charity does and, with the staycation expected to be the norm, the Youth Adventure Trust has put together a whole package of free ideas, activities and resources to support you over the next six weeks and beyond.

Sign up for a weekly adventure email with activity suggestions for you to do alone, with your family or friends. If you are under 18 and want to achieve something over the summer, then why not work towards our exclusive THRIVE award. After months of lockdown, we know that going back to school might be a daunting prospect, so play along with our Back to School Bingo to help you get ready. Visit www.youthadventuretrust.org.uk/summer-of-adventure where you can sign up to do everything, just download the bits you fancy or take a look at our support and advice pages.

The Youth Adventure Trust is a registered charity that has helped thousands of young vulnerable people through its three year outdoor adventure programme which builds resilience, confidence, self-belief and essential life skills - transforming children’s lives. Since lockdown began, the charity has been supporting the 11-16 year olds on its programme by providing online mentoring and virtual group sessions.

Mark Davey, CEO of the Youth Adventure Trust says:

“The challenges the young people on our programme face on a daily basis have not disappeared because of Covid-19. If anything, their situations have got harder, especially for those living in potentially harmful or disadvantaged environments. They need us more than ever! The Summer of Adventure is something that we hope will help them, and other families up and down the country, to do something positive over the next six weeks so they can make this summer count!”

The Summer of Adventure has been kindly supported by The North Face and Ellis Brigham Mountain Sport. It is completely free to take part in the Summer of Adventure, but if you do enjoy getting involved, the charity asks that you make a donation to help ensure vulnerable young people can get the support they need during these challenging times.
