TGt Meets... Damon Twine
We've been chatting to plumbing apprentices at Swindon College about how the scheme is great for them.
Why did you choose an Apprenticeship over university?
I prefer to learn and work practically, so an Apprenticeship was the best thing for me.
How did you decide which Apprenticeship to do?
I always knew I wanted to do plumbing, especially since school.
What are the benefits of doing an Apprenticeship?
Learn practical skills as well as developing yourself.
What are you doing to develop within your role and company?
Learn more skills and keep continuing the work I am doing.
What’s your biggest achievement to date?
Generally just learning how to do the job I want to do.
How do you spend your free time?
Relaxing and going out with my friends.
What’s the hardest part about doing an Apprenticeship?
Coming to college and completing the theory behind my course.
What has doing an Apprenticeship meant for you as a person? (Grown confidence, developed specific skills, made new friends etc)
Learning specific skills for my course has made me more mature.
What advice would you give someone making the decision to go to university or to do an Apprenticeship?
If you want to achieve your goals, do an Apprenticeship.
What’s the one thing you will take away from your apprenticeship once it’s over?
A really good qualification and all of the skills to do a job.
