Local brewery says “Come on in” as Christmas Market Returns for 2022

The Arkell’s Outdoor Christmas Market is back! This Saturday, 10 December, sees the return of the festive-filled market at Kingsdown Brewery from 10am to 2pm.

The market held in the grounds of Arkell’s beautiful and historic Victorian steam brewery is already a key part of the festive calendar for many and a unique opportunity to get inside the gates and enjoy the historic local site whilst browsing for gifts and goodies for loved ones.

Over 40 local and regional food and craftspeople will be selling their wares including jewellery, cakes, fudge, candles, chutneys and pet treats; something to cater for every member of the family.

Events Co-Ordinator, Lesley Dicks said: “So many people wonder what is beyond the brewery gates and this is a perfect opportunity to come and see this notorious building in the town – it’s a magical place at Christmas, the tree is up and the site is always full of a buzz and joy on the day of the market. When we hear that the children and their families have had such a lovely time, we invariably do it all over again, so please come and see us all on Saturday.”

Whilst absorbing the festive atmosphere, shoppers will be treated to the joyful singing of local choir ‘The Songbirds’, as well as music from ‘The Oompah Band’. Visitors can also expect to find traders selling mouth-watering treats such as bratwurst sausages, pizza and Greek food, along with hand-warming drinks, fragrant mulled wine and Arkell’s seasonal favourite, Sir Noel Ale.

Christmas wouldn’t be the same without Santa, and he’s making an appearance from 10.30am-12pm and 1.00pm-2.00pm. No booking is required, just payment on the day of £5 per child (includes gift); be sure to stop and see his reindeer too.

“We love having the opportunity to welcome our local community through the gates of the brewery” said Alex Arkell. “It’s wonderful to see everyone getting into the festive spirit in the run up to Christmas.”

Admission to the market is free and parking on site is available, although limited, so walking is encouraged if you are able to. The Stagecoach number 10 bus also runs from Swindon Town Centre to Kingsdown.
