About: Weston Super Mare is a popular seaside town located to the South West of Bristol. With miles and miles of sandy beach, the huge pier, arcades and lots more, there really is something for everyone here. Weston is ideal for families, and with fish and chip shops and ice cream parlours around every corner, you’re not likely to go hungry either!
Dogs: Not allowed on the main beach, but are at Sandy Bay and quieter areas of Weston

Sandbanks Beach
Distance: 1 hour 55 minutes (99 miles) by car
About: Think fine golden sand, beautiful clear waters and real exotic beach vibes on a sunny day. That’s what you’ll get at Sandbanks! It’s a hugely popular beach which stretches approximately 5km long and is dubbed ‘Britain’s Palm Beach’. This highly desirable location offers lovely seaside cafes, a crazy golf course, children’s play areas and lots more.
Dogs: There is a designated dog beach area at Sandbanks. Dogs must be kept on a lead along the promenade.

Parking: Sandbanks Surface Car Park is located next to the beach and has 532 spaces.
Bournemouth Beach
Distance: 1 hour 45 mins (95 miles) by car, or by train approx. 2 hours 30 mins (changing at Reading & Southampton Central)
About: Bournemouth Beach is a stunning beach that we all know and love, with beautiful golden sand and shallow water, perfect for paddling in! The town also has a popular pier, cliffside walks and plenty of entertainment, food and drink for families, couples and solo travellers alike. Bournemouth is an all-round great beach destination to spend the day, but make sure you get there early as it does get busy quickly!
Dogs: Welcome everywhere from October – April, but between May and September they are only allowed in certain areas. Please check before you visit if you are bringing a dog.

Whitmore Bay, Barry Island
Distance: 1 hour 43 mins (85 miles) by car, or by train approx. 1 hour 39 mins (change at Cardiff Central)
About: Any Gavin and Stacey fans out there? Barry Island is not only popular as a filming location for the well-known sitcom, but also for its glorious sandy beach! This Welsh beach is a lovely little cove, which tends to be a bit quieter and more secluded than the likes of Bournemouth, but with the addition of the popular pleasure park just off the seafront. There are also plenty of cafes, amusement arcades, fish and chip shops and of course, photo opportunities in the town for G&S fans.
Dogs: Only allowed on the beach during winter months (October – April)
