Composer debuts orchestral concert with 50 musicians

Nick Newton, a 46-year-old accountant from Swindon, is ready to dazzle with his debut orchestral concert, bringing together nearly 50 professional musicians and singers for an unforgettable night of music.

Despite having no formal music training, Nick decided to follow his passion for composing and organised the entire event himself—all while juggling his day job crunching numbers. The result? “Havens in Concert,” a musical journey set to take centre stage on September 20 at Christ Church in Swindon, featuring original pieces from his debut album, Havens, which hit the airwaves last year.

Nick’s inspiration struck during the Covid-19 pandemic, reigniting his long-held musical dreams. He teamed up with a singer who connected him to an orchestrator, and after a year of perfecting melodies and arranging the score, Nick’s vision came to life.

Described as orchestral with a choral twist, the concert will showcase the talents of London’s Orpheus Sinfonia, plus special guest performances by Nadia Eide, a finalist from The Voice, and Georgi Mottram, a Classical Brit Award nominee.
