Almost 1000 patients will receive the Pfizer Coronavirus in Swindon this week at the STEAM Museum after the premises opened as a Covid-19 vaccine site.
Having received over 950 doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine, vaccinations will begin today and will run across two days.
Under the UK Government’s mass vaccination programme residents in care homes, those aged over 80, and frontline health and social care workers will be the first to get vaccinated against COVID-19.
The Pfizer-BioNTech is currently the only vaccine in mass vaccination with the government ordering 40 million initial doses however, it is expected that the Oxford-AstraZeneca and Moderna vaccines will soon be approved for widespread use.
Arriving at the STEAM Museum this morning, patients were asked to remain under observation at the premises for 15 minutes to make sure they didn’t have an allergic reaction.
Ten NHS staff members received the vaccine this week with more staff carrying out vaccinations at STEAM set to be vaccinated throughout this week.
