Easter getaways to book in 2022
As the warmer weather of spring begins to settle in, there’s no better time to plan an Easter getaway with all the family. Not only does this allow you to spend quality time together, but it avoids the summertime rush and soaring prices across July and August.
Make the most of all the best destinations and resorts, before they get too crowded! Before booking your trip away, it’s always a good idea to set a budget and organise your finances accordingly first.
In this article, we share a few different ideas on places to visit this Easter.
Morocco
Morocco is a beautiful beacon of culture for all the family to explore. Indulge in traditional culinary delights at the local markets where you can discover the many colourful spices and herbs on offer. Trek across the stunning Sahara Desert on camelback, stopping at the historical Roman ruins of Volubilis at Todra Gorge.
Finally, a trip to The Blue City in Chefchaouen is a must when visiting Morocco. This hidden gem became home to many Jews who fled here during World War II. The story goes that they painted the city walls blue to remind them of the sky and heaven, keeping them closer to god.
Full of intricate floor tiles, patterned textiles that hang from the rooftops, and blanketed in every hue of blue imaginable, be sure to pack your camera when visiting this ancient medina.
Sicily
Famous for white sandy beaches, delicious Italian cuisine, Sicily is the largest of Italy’s islands and has plenty to keep the family busy.
Discover the impressive ruins of Segesta at Doric temple – dating back to 430BC. Take a day trip to the ancient city of Palermo to sample the best fresh seafood and sweet cannoli that Italy has to offer. Here you can explore the majestic architecture of Cattedrale di Palermo by day, or take a seafront stroll on La Cala harbour by night.
If you’re all tired out from exploring the hidden treasures of the city, sit back and relax on one of Sicily’s idyllic beaches for some well-deserved relaxation.
The Lake District
If you’re looking for somewhere closer to home, the Lake District is a beautiful destination for those who are looking for local wilderness and a good dose of outdoor adventure.
This staycation spot has numerous water sports and activities available – so you can rest assured the kids will have more than enough to keep them busy!
Choose from paddle boarding, rock climbing, canoeing, zip-lining, and even Go Ape – a popular choice for both parents and children.
