Prepare
It’s really important to keep your lips in good condition. After all, you keep the skin on your face and body well moisturised and exfoliated, so why not your lips?
LUSH Cosmetics’ lip scrub in Bubble Gum is one of my personal favourites to keep your lips lovely and smooth. The sugar helps to remove any dead skin that could block moisturiser or make your lips look chapped. If you haven’t got a lip scrub to hand you can use a mixture of granulated sugar with either almond or olive oil.
Using a good lip balm is the next step, ensuring you have the perfect base to apply your lip colour makes a huge difference.
Prime
Using a primer means that your lip product will apply smoothly and last longer. If you don’t have a lip primer, or you want the colour of the lipstick to be bolder, applying a thin layer of concealer to your lips will help even block out the shade of your lips and ensure your lipsticks true colour.
Liner
Find a liner in a similar colour to your lip stick. Lip Liner is super important for longevity and clean lines. Make sure your liner is freshly sharpened and draw a neat line around the inner edge of your lip. Using the pencil, then shade in your lips towards your mouth. The lip liner will help keep the colour for longer.
Choose your Lipstick
It’s not rocket science, most lipsticks do what they say on the tube! If you opt for a moisturising one, it will keep your lips hydrated, it you opt for a long lasting colour, the colour will last longer!
Using a brush, colour over your lips and make sure the colour is even. We love lip lacquers as they give great colour and a wonderful finish. They are also notoriously longwearing.
Finishing Touches
You can either blot your lips gently with a clean tissue to remove any obvious colour transfer or, you can use a product like Lipcote that helps seal the colour in. You simply apply on top of your lips you’re ready to go!
