Out of this world fundraisers Return to Space Station Pudsey
An intergalactic BBC Children in Need fundraiser is back at the McArthurGlen Designer Outlet Swindon after a gap of 20 years.
Outlet Swindon after a gap of 20 years. The previous event Space Station Pudsey 2 took place in 2003 and featured special guests including Star Wars and Grangehill actor Michael Sheard and veteran Dalek operator Cy Town and a host of visitors from other worlds to help support Children in Need.
The same mix of sci-fi fun and fundraising will take place again on Friday 17th November for Return to Space Station Pudsey and include Daleks, Cybermen and Imperial Stormtroopers among other characters. For the first time Davros, the villainous creator of the Daleks, will be on show at the shopping centre.
On this occasion the centre of activity will move to the heart of the McArthurGlen Designer Outlet Swindon which opened in 2015. The area was specifically picked because it resembles the inside of a space ship or flying saucer and is a popular public area for meeting and eating. There will be a presentation stage and Space Station presenters Graham Seaman and Mark Jones, both former BBC broadcasters, will chat to fundraisers and special guests. Many of the retailers at the McArthurGlen Designer Outlet Swindon will be fundraising on the day and the public are being urged to support the effort by donating or taking part in the out of this world experience.
Charlotte Matthews, Marketing Manager at the McArthurGlen Designer Outlet Swindon, believes this will attract a lot of interest from visitors :
“The venue for this space themed fundraiser is ideal. Plenty of room for Daleks to roam and the recent opening of our heart area which looks like a spaceship makes this a happy Return to Space Station Pudsey. So bring all of the family and beam up to the fun !”
Returning to the Space Station Pudsey will be Doctor Who fan John Chapman who reckons this is a great place for sci-fi aliens to drop by :
“I love these events and watching the public, particularly kids, come face to face with their favourite science fiction villain. Add to that the generous support for BBC Children in Need and I reckon we are in for another great day and evening of intergalactic fun for everyone.”
