Generation Gains 2017 Working with BETTER and the Zurich Community Trust

BETTER Swindon is pleased to announce their first Generation Gains recreation session starting on the Friday 14th July 2017 between 11.30am-1.30pm at the Haydon Centre and Gym.

The session will cost £2.50 and will include the following activities:

• Badminton
• Short tennis
• Table tennis
• Gym (Gym induction must be completed at any of the Better Centres in Swindon)
• Gym Induction start time 11.30am  till 12.15pm (Please pre book your Gym Induction by calling the Haydon centre 01793 721526)
• Tea/coffee and chat 1pm-1.30pm

This session is the first of many that will focus on activities to engage with older members of the community, keeping them active and independent for longer regardless of their personal circumstances.

Working in partnership with and funded by the Zurich Community Trust, ‘Generation Gains’ is a two-year inter-generational pilot programme which is being evaluated by Bath University.  The programme will allow five Better Apprentices to ‘earn while they learn’ gaining qualifications in health and fitness, leisure operations and sport coaching, as well as acquiring skills to engage with the local community.

To help with our research on the Generation Gains project we will be asking all participants to fill in a short questionnaire.
