GYM REVIEW: Everyday Fitness Gym
Everyday Fitness Gym opened during lockdown last year as Danny Day and his team brought a state-of-the-art gym to the heart of Wroughton. As coronavirus restrictions eased, the team at Total Swindon popped in for a quick workout and our first gym review of 2021!
Located just off Wroughton High Street, Everyday Fitness Gym is a local gym that tailors to the needs and requirements of its members, promoting memberships that encourage visitors to pay for what they use.
Turning up for my first training session since coronavirus restrictions were eased, I was hesitant, to say the least, but after stepping inside Everyday Fitness for the first time, any nerves were soon put to bed as owner Danny Day showed me around the facility and outlined the stringent health and safety measures in place.
The gym itself was smaller than some of the mainstream facilities you will find around Swindon, and at first glance, you might think your workout will be limited by this, however, this didn’t bother me at all because as soon as I started my workout I found there was more than enough space for all of my exercises including heavy weight lifting, cardio, and recovery.
The gym is split into three areas, cardio, weights, and TRX zone, with each boasting high-spec equipment and its quirks that make a workout an enjoyable experience.
Starting my workout in the cardio section, I was pleasantly surprised at the equipment available to me. A fan-bike, a rower, and an impressive self-powered Technogym treadmill that is brilliant for runners as it requires you to power the machine by running therefore allowing you to replicate running outdoors far better than on a traditional treadmill.
After working up a sweat it was onto the weights - my favourite part of a gym workout! Everyday Fitness isn’t the type of gym full of people throwing weights around and making tons of noise, but don’t let that fool you, the weights area features two bench presses (one can be used as a squat rack), two benches, and a range of heavy-weight kettlebells and dumbbells that are perfect for any weight-based exercise you can think of.
Targeting my back I underwent a series of deadlifts and was delighted with the space I was presented with to undergo this activity in. The weight plates were soft and combined with the reinforced mat underneath to minimise impact and reduce the sound as the bar hit the floor.
I followed this up with some individual bent over rows and found the well-maintained dumbbells offered a great range of weight that allowed me to find my optimum strength levels as I proceeded through my workout.
Finally, I was in the TRX zone. TRX is a versatile piece of equipment that is fantastic for people returning from injury and allows you to work out with freedom as you adjust the ropes to suit whatever exercise you want to focus on and use your own bodyweight to build strength.
An expensive piece of equipment, most gyms will only have 2-5 TRX’s, however, Everyday Fitness boast an outstanding 8 TRX’s and have an entire zone dedicated to them. After a few sets of chest raises using the TRX I was ready to conclude my workout.
Unfortunately, my review took place when exercise classes weren’t allowed, however, I did take a look at their expansive studio that is connected to the gym and where a range of exceptional classes take place on a daily basis.
The team at Everyday Fitness even invested in state-of-the-art video equipment that allows them to take their classes online and gives members a chance to join in from home if they can’t make it to the studio.
I had a great time at Everyday Fitness and thoroughly enjoyed being back in the gym for the first time this year. Danny and his wonderful team have managed to excel in creating a facility that is welcoming, high-quality, and dedicated to its members.
If you’re looking to join a gym in Swindon that is cost-effective and well-maintained then look no further than Everyday Fitness in Wroughton.
