The former Tigersharks swimmer, who won gold medals at this summer’s Commonwealth Games and European Championships, will be attending the West Swindon leisure centre from 1.45pm to meet members of the public before holding a question & answer session with members of her local swimming club.
The Link Centre’s doors will be open for a fun-packed day of free activities between 10am and 5pm including 15-minute introductory ice skating sessions and Cool Kid’s Club from 10am to 12noon.
A competition will also run throughout the day to name the ice arena’s four new Snowmen stability aids with the winners picking up a free family skating pass.
The pool will host junior beginner lessons (for those aged 5+), while children aged 7 and over who can swim at least 100m can take part in Rookie Lifeguard sessions along with Flip and Fun Diving which involves jumping, tumbling and splashing. These will then be followed by Wet ‘n’ Wild fun for all the family and promotional sessions from the Tigersharks and Dolphins swimming clubs.
Visitors can head for heights with the expert tuition of the Link’s climbing instructors on the indoor climbing wall, as well as the mobile climbing wall.
Taster sessions for a number of fitness classes will be on offer from 9am to 12.45pm, including Body Attack, Body Balance, Body Combat, Body Pump and RPM Express for those aged 16 and over. Kids aged 9 and over can work out at TeenNRG circuit class and for the over 11s riding a bike has never been so much fun with Teen SpinRG.
Children under 12 can also bounce away on trampolines, while seniors will be able to enjoy master classes at tea dance.
There’ll also be dance mats that everyone can try and Sanford Table Tennis Club will run taster sessions on the main concourse.
The library is open like usual from 9.30am to 4pm with a special story time session for pre-school children at 10.30am.
Those who are new to the Link Centre or haven’t been there for some time can relax, for staff will be on hand to give tours and advice on how to get active.
