Local Artist's New Painting is 'Out of this World'
Air Chief Marshal Sir Stephen Dalton GCB ADC LLD (Hon) BSc FRAeS CCMI RAF and the Red Arrows will be helping to launch Swindon based artist David Bent's latest painting "Out of this World", at the Royal International Air Tattoo this July.
Credited with creating a new movement in modern aviation art, David's new painting is inspired by time previously spent with the Red Arrows as artist in residence.
This latest piece adds to a significant collection of work, recently featured in the RAF Museum's year long retrospective, Fresh Air - the first of its kind for a living artist.
Sir Stephen and the Red Arrows will be signing two high quality limited edition prints of this new work which will be donated by David and his wife Carole Bent to the Aerobility and Fly to Help charities.
David's 2013 RIAT poster artwork will also be helping towards the Royal Air Force Charitable Trust's fund-raising.
Last summer, 280 aircrew and volunteers signed David's 2012 poster , this year Carole is aiming for 300 signatures from aircrew from around the world along with other great people involved in this years event . This unique piece of aviation memorabilia will be donated to RIAT and auctioned after the event in July.
Carole Bent explained "The RIAT is an amazing event to be part of, exhibiting David's work over recent years, we are lucky to have met so many remarkable people involved in aviation. I felt that if they were happy to sign David's RIAT artwork, we could all create something totally unique to thank the team and to help raise funds for their charity, the Royal Air Force Charitable Trust”
Tim Prince OBE FRAeS, Chief Executive RAFCTE Director RIAT commented "David's love for and appreciation of the power and beauty of aviation adds a unique fourth dimension to his work that sets it above his contemporaries. Many of our guests at the Royal International Air Tattoo share his passion and consequently view David's work as an integral part of our celebration of the magic that is aviation."
