New College Hair and Beauty Students Recycle Rubbish for a New Kind of Style
Hair and Beauty students at New College Swindon have been taking part in a ‘recycle themed’ competition.
Some of the final eco-friendly creations were showcased at a special End of Year Show run by Distinction, the Hair and Beauty Salon at New College. The best creations were picked out by a panel of judges with prizes up for grabs.
Hairdressing students took part in a challenge called ‘Don’t throw it away, it can be used in some other way’. The students created a suitable bespoke hairstyle with make-up and nails to fit in with the recycling theme.
Hair and Beauty students battled it out in the ‘Just think before you bin it, there could be some use in it’ competition, to create a total look with make-up, hair and nails. Complementary Therapy students also created aromatherapy soaps as part of the ‘Clean up your mess’ challenge.
Level 3 Hairdressing students took part in a catwalk competition with the theme ‘Paper, bottles, cans, plastic, recycle them all, it’s fantastic’. Students created suitable avant-garde hair styles, including make-up, nails and costume.
Beauty Therapy students have also been focusing on the environment with a rainforest challenge including the themes ‘think globally – act locally’ and ‘modern technology owes ecology an apology’.
