Website 01793 522100Last night, Total Swindon played host to a meeting of the minds as the committee of the New Swindon Half Marathon got together to discuss potential routes, dates, and everything else that goes in to organising a fantastic running event.
The New Swindon Half Marathon Board is made up of the best local minds for the job; Liam from RUN in Old Town, Swindon's premier running store, Gary O'Brien, owner of Fitness 4U and two-time winner of the Swindon Half Marathon, Danny Clayton from DC Injury Clinic an expert sports therapist and Total's own Liz Ledger, expert in the local area and advertising who is an extremely keen amateur athlete with vast distance running experience.
All of these passionate local businesses will be working together with the incredible Cotswold 113 Events who are unrivalled in the organisation of road running events and triathlons having perfected the model over a number of years. Their events have the dendency to sell out, sometimes up to 12 months in advance without ANY advertising!
One of the items on the agenda was the new route, which will endeavour to show off both the urban landscape and natural beauty of Swindon. The old Swindon Half had a reputation of being a bit of a gruelling course including lots of hills and off-road sections of the course. The new committee are keen to change the route to make it as flat and inclusive as possible. Thats why they're looking for feedback and input from local people to make it the best Half Marathon possible!
With that in mind, we're opening the comments section for your ideas:

Great news! Was gutted when the Swindon Half got cancelled. Please make the New Swindon Half less hilly and give it the big-event-feel I've seen at other 113 events! Time to dust my running shoes off!
