Cirencester Open Air Swimming Pool

Cirencester, just 13 miles out of Swindon, is home to one of the best (and oldest – built in 1869!) Open Air Pools around. It is conveniently located on the edge of Cirencester Park in the centre of the town and is heated to around 27°C, so it’s the perfect temperature to either keep you warm on cooler days or cool you down on hot days! There are plenty of aids and refreshments available. Please note that it is open from 17th May - 11th September 2022.

Cotswold Water Park and Beach

Cotswold Water Park and Beach is a fantastic place to take the kids for some outdoor swimming in the summer months. It might be just 12 miles out of Swindon, but you’d never guess! You can either enjoy a swim in the natural lake (accessible via the beach) or plunge into Aquaventure – a giant inflatable Total Wipeout style experience on the lake!

Coate Water Splash Park

If you’re looking for somewhere a bit more local and suitable for younger children, then Coate Water Splash Park is ideal. Although there is no pool, there are plenty of fun sprinklers and fountains to keep all ages cool on hot days, as well as much gentler sprays for little children if the bigger sprays are too overpowering for them. There is also lots of other fun activities at Coate Water so you can make a day of it!

Northcroft Lido 

Northcroft Lido is a 72m heated outdoor pool set in the grounds of Northcroft Leisure Centre in Newbury. It’s ideal for those who enjoy lane swimming out in the open air, and is open from 10am – 6pm on weekends and 7:15am – 8:45am and 11am – 7pm on weekdays. The outdoor teaching pool is also used for swimming lessons which they offer to all ages.
