Planning

Like everything else to do with the prom, great hair is the result of precise planning. Just as you plan your dress, transport and prom partner, your hair takes planning to!

Make sure you pick your dress in good time because what you wear will help determine how you want your hair styled. If your dress has a low neckline or is off-the-shoulder, hair down can work well. With a high neckline, hair can look better worn up or, if your dress has a delicate detail at the back, you may not want to cover it up, so hair-up is again a good option.

Practice Run

A practice run with your hairdresser is really important so you’ll see exactly what you will look like on the day. When the prom day arrives, you will want to relax and enjoy all of it, so it’s good to know in advance that your hair is going to look perfect.

Hairdressers get very busy throughout the prom season so book early! Also, arrive for the appointment on time to ensure your appointment does not have to be cut short. If you are opting for a hair-up style, choose a stylist with lots of hair-up experience. The trial run will allow you to make sure you get the look you want.

The Prom Girls

The ideal appointment time is the afternoon. Hair done too early in the day may not look its best by the evening and, if you leave it too late, then you will not fully enjoy the run up to the evening. Get your nails and make-up done at the same time, as the whole pamper experience will leave you beautifully groomed and relaxed for the night ahead!

Prom night is just as special for the boys. Make sure you book a hair trim and a beard trim if needed.
