REVIEW: Valentine's Stay at Jurys Inn

We had the pleasure of reviewing the newly refurbished Jurys Inn Swindon. Located on Fleming Way, Jurys Inn is conveniently located in the center of town, just a 4 minute walk from Swindon Train Station, the hotels bedrooms and whole ground floor area have been transformed to accommodate the needs of locals and visitors alike and with ample parking on site.

Myself, husband and 7 year old daughter visited for an overnight stay and evening meal in The Kitchen Restaurant on a cold and windy Friday evening in February.

On entering the hotel which we have visited before and has been open in Swindon since 2009 we were very pleasantly surprised by the beautiful refurbished downstairs area which certainly has the WOW effect.

The reception and lobby areas are contemporary yet warm and inviting with a lovely fireplace. The colour scheme is beautiful and tasteful. There is also a new and very convenient area in which a range of soft and alcoholic drinks and snacks can be purchased next to the reception.

Leading through into the newly renovated bar and restaurant area that is the perfect place for an after work drink, casual dining, remote working with wifi and charging ports or a coffee with friends.

The furniture is modern, comfy and functional and simply invites you to relax. A really lovely atmosphere has been created with attention given to the lighting to suit both business and leisure needs perfectly.

Before checking into our room we relaxed in the bar area over a drink my husband opted for a Craft Beer and myself a wine from the ample and varied drinks on selection in the bar.

We checked into our room on the 6th floor which has also undergone refurbishments.

The hotel’s bedrooms are stylish and include 25 executive rooms. The spaces are beautifully finished with vibrant shades of green and purple, complete with a contemporary brick-effect wall and light wooden décor.

The rooms are bright, roomy and inviting, each room comes equipped with free high speed WiFi, en-suite bathroom, flat screen TV , hairdryer  and tea and coffee making facilities. We were in a family room and a bed had kindly been made up for our daughter before arrival to her excitement.

The Kitchen menu at The Jurys Inn can be served both in the bar area or in the restaurant and a selection of food is also available for Room Service.

The in-house restaurant is contemporary and the the menu is varied and suitable to all tastes offering a range of delicious dishes; from burgers and artisan pizzas to succulent steaks and healthy options. The child's menu is excellent value for money and varied a range offering typical children's favourites.

For our starter we opted for Tiger and Chorizo pil pil with spring onion and tomato in a garlic chilli oil and homemade nachos with melted Montrey jack Cheese topped with guacamole, sour cream and jalapenos with salsa . Accompanied by a Mile Bay Chardonnay which was simply delicious.

For our main courses the Roast breast of Chicken in mushroom and marsala sauce with pomme puree looked mouthwatering and it did not disappoint. Along with the 8oz steak and skin on fries was cooked to perfection and the large portions was enough to satisfy even the heartiest of appetites.

Our daughters burger and fries was presented beautifully and tasted even better. She was delighted.

The dessert selection was too tempting to dismiss so we opted to share the homemade crumble of blueberry and apple it looked so rich and inviting. The cheeseboard of crumbly stilton, ripe brie and cheddar was served with a fresh pear, plum and ginger chutney, it was the perfect end to a beautiful meal.

The food was to a very high standard, fresh and generous.

We retired to our room and the large, soft comfy bed was the perfect end to a lovely evening.

Although it was a busy weekend the room was exceptionally quiet and we felt in no rush the next morning.

The breakfast buffet at the Jurys Inn was impressive including a selection of cereals, fresh fruits, a hot buffet, juices, teas and coffees.

Our experience overall was one of welcoming satisfaction. As a family its hard to cater for all tastes and needs but the Jurys Inn certainly did.

We will definitely be returning and I would highly recommend for a business or leisure visit. You will not be disappointed.
