The run is an amalgamation of two of Swindon’s most loved winter runs, the Reindeer Run and the Rotary Club of Swindon Phoenix’s Santa Run. To register to take part visit www.swindonsanta.org.uk.
Fundraising for the event will be for both Brighter Futures and The Swindon Phoenix’s nominated charity beneficiary, Wiltshire Air Ambulance. Details of both can be found on the event page at www.brighterfuturesgwh.nhs.uk.
Kenresa Stratford, Community and Events Fundraising Manager for Brighter Futures said: “We’re delighted to be able to welcome the event back this December. After the success of the first event in 2019 and the virtual event last year, we cannot wait to see the sea of Santa’s and Reindeer gathered at the start line.
“We’re looking forward to bringing this event to Lydiard and working with The Rotary Club of Swindon Phoenix and are so grateful for the support of the community in helping us bring this event together.
“We hope that as many people as possible will come together to help support Brighter Futures and The Rotary Club of Swindon Phoenix’s charity beneficiary, Wiltshire Air Ambulance. The question is, will they be Team Santa or Team Rudolph?”
Adam Wainwright, President of The Rotary Club of Swindon Phoenix said: “As the President of the Rotary Club of Swindon Phoenix it really is amazing to have the physical event back this year at its home - the scenic Lydiard Park.
“The Santa Vs. Rudolph Run is an iconic event in the local calendar of events and is always so terrifically supported.
“We are hoping that this year’s event will be no different and the wonderful community of Swindon and Wiltshire will once again get behind us as a Rotary Club and register for the fun run (walk, or jog).
“By entering, the community will be supporting our fantastic event partner and benefitting charity Brighter Futures as well as supporting Wiltshire Air Ambulance who are also a beneficiary charity.
“We have a great day lined up, and with so much hard work going on behind the scenes; we all hope that this year’s event will be our biggest yet.”
On the day registration will start at 8.30am and the main event will start at 11.00 am. The distances are 3k, 5k, 10k and you can either run, jog or walk the routes.
Families, dogs and pushchairs are all welcome. Adult tickets cost £12.00 each, Children £9.00 each and under 4’s can enter for free, or you can purchase a family ticket for £25.00.
