School Fete Celebrating Half A Century of Education
Students and former teachers are expected to celebrate Churchfields Academy's Golden Anniversary of Education this weekend.
The Salcombe Grove school first opened its doors in 1964 and is celebrating this milestone with a birthday fete this Saturday September 13 between 10am and noon.
Local businesses attending to support the school will be selling books, jewellery, cakes, beauty products, make-up as well as activities such as hair-braiding, holistic massage and a bouncy castle. Students and staff will also run stalls to raise funds and to showcase some of the work done by students in the academy today.
During the afternoon, Principal Sharon Kirwan will also conduct tours of the site.
In the latest league tables, Churchfields was among the top two schools in the south west for progress across every subject in the curriculum
Also being held is an open evening for prospective students and their parents on Thursday September 18 between 5pm and 8pm. Details can be found at www.churchfields.org or by calling 01793 487286.
