Snapped: Old Town Autumn Fayre

Christ Church Swindon held a vintage style Old Town Autumn Fayre on Saturday 20th September. TGtS was there to enjoy the autumn delights on offer at the show...

The event played host the real ale tent, Rays Ice Cream, and the ability indulge in a gorgeous cake in the decorative Tea Garden. Courtesy of Swindon’s new Waitrose store there was also wine tasting with experts to advise on hand.  If you fancied something hot and savoury there was a barbeque with locally sourced burgers and sausages, as well as African Fusion Street Food

And if a spell in the stocks or ferret racing Wasn’t your thing, there was craft and heritage stalls, plants to brighten up your garden and local produce to purchase. You could try your hand at bell ringing, a mere 46 steep spiral steps up into the church tower, win a ride in a fabulous vintage car, enjoy the Commonweal School A Cappella Singers and discover more about Swindon and the 1st World War with a fascinating display of artefacts and costumes.

Event Organiser Daphne Hardwick said:  “We are delighted that so many organisations are keen to take part in this local community event. It’s going to be great fun and we look forward to seeing lots of people on the day.  The new Community Centre @ Christ Church opened by Nick Hewer (of The Apprentice & Countdown)  earlier this year has already proved a massive hit with local groups and is providing a lovely new venue to support the Old Town Autumn Fayre.”
