Snapped: Ridgeway Farm Dig

On Saturday the 21st of June, a team of budding archaeology enthusiasts were welcomed by home-builder Taylor Wimpey to see the Iron Age settlement discovered at their Ridgeway Farm plot. TGt went along to see what mysteries were uncovered..

Wessex Archaeology, who is carrying out the investigation, has made some fantastic discoveries on the Ridgeway Farm site.  The team have uncovered post holes, storage pits and pottery which suggests the area was once occupied by a small Iron Age settlement.  Accordingly to the archaeologist, the finds could be those belonging to a small family group and could date back to as early as 700 – 100BC.

This is a really exciting find, and we are looking forward to hearing what else they uncover!
