Snapped: SSAFA Wiltshire’s 100 Hearts for 100 Years Community Arts Project

SSAFA Wiltshire’s 100 Hearts for 100 Years Community Arts Project was officially launched by the town's Mayor, Councillor Teresa Page on Saturday afternoon at Debenhams, Swindon.

Soldiers from 280 MC Sqn RLC, the Chelsea Pensioners, and local Army Cadets, joined the Mayor to officially launch project.

Local café, Brogans donated a specially baked cake in the shape of a Heart, to be used during the cake cutting ceremony. 

The 100 Hearts for 100 Years project pays tribute to the pincushion ‘sweethearts’ that injured WW1 soldiers made for their loved ones while they recovered in hospital. 

Assisted by the Royal School of Needlework, SSAFA Wiltshire, joined forces with community craft groups to make 100 new ‘sweethearts’.
