Swindon Half Given New Lease of Life

Swindon’s Half Marathon has been given a new lease of life as local business and charities pull together to reinstate the much loved road race.

A committee including Total Guide to Ltd, Heart FM, the Swindon Advertiser, and Swindon Borough Council has been set up to organise the much anticipated event alongside sponsors Seqol and Save the Children.

The event, which attracted more than 1,500 runners in 2014 and raised thousands of pounds for charity, will be held as previously planned on Sunday 11th October.

The British Heart Foundation, the original organisers made an announcement via their website stating; "We will no longer be running the Swindon Half Marathon. We will get in contact with those already registered to arrange a refund."

The news was a crushing blow to local runners who participate in the gruelling event, year in, year out. Now thanks to the support of local business and charities, the event is back on and set to be a roaring success.
