Swindon Knitter’s wrap homeless in warmth of handmade blankets
Kevin Parry Threshold’s Operations and Social Impact Manager said “It’s truly wonderful to receive a visit by Marie Barrett and Ben Humphrey representing ‘The Big Knit’ with a bevy of handmade warm woollen knitted blankets.
This is a fantastic example of what happens when groups come together to demonstrate real pride and care in our community”.
Marie says "the group is a Swindon Circles Initiative where our volunteer knitters make lovely things for people who need them. People donate wool and knitting needles to us and our volunteers then knit beautiful items. We then match the beautiful hand crafted blankets, clothes and toys with a local charity that needs it".
Michael Keenan, Chief Executive said Threshold, Swindon’s homeless charity are thrilled to be a beneficiary. It's a heart warming thought that we can wrap our guests in our numerous resettlement houses in the love, care and warmth these blankets provide. It’s clearly taken a great many hours to make each individual blanket. We're very grateful to 'Swindon's Big Knit' for their kindness and care".
