Christ Church invites the public to take part in a huge, immersive theatrical telling of the Nativity story in Old Town, on 9th December 2018. You can witness Mary and Joseph’s incredible jour-ney, from Nazareth to Bethlehem, like you have never seen before; unfolding all around you, live, up-close and personal. Welcome to The Journey.
This is major public project brings together members and organisations across the community to celebrate Christmas in a completely unique way. There couldn’t be a more perfect time in his-tory to highlight the struggles that our young heroine faced, more than two millennia ago. A teenage pregnancy, poverty and being forced on a difficult journey by an occupying power.
The team behind this ambitious performance features Daphne Hardwick, Minister at Christ Church with St. Mary’s. Directed by Anna Friend, well known for her production of the Wrough-ton Passion Play. Joined by Juliet Webb, specialist producer for outdoor, site-specific theatre. They actively encourage the public to participate in this unforgettable depiction of the Nativity story.
There are a number of opportunities to take part or sponsor the event. Please contact [email protected]. The team would particularly like to hear from printers, caterers and from the businesses located in Old Town, especially those on Wood Street.
