We recommend
Before the world began to accept VR, we had the internet, which is also one of the biggest things to come out of technology. With the help of artificial intelligence, the internet further helped make many of our activities real and helpful. Recently, VR and AI have been merged to make things easier in different aspects of our lives. They are used in various industries; travelling, education, shopping, entertainment, and gaming. Most of the biggest mobile casino platforms make use of AI and VR to deliver personalized services and also immersive gaming experience for players. The tourism and travel industry also use it to give their prospective tourists a glimpse of what they will experience at their chosen locations. In the sales industry, AI helps to make recommendations of products customers may like while VR helps them to test the products.
The benefits of VR are numerous. That’s why it isn’t surprising that it was introduced in Swindon. Continue reading to find out how VR is already being used in Swindon.
VR in Education
In October 2018, teachers from different schools across Wiltshire came together to discuss the use of VR in teaching. This happened at an event organized by Techs4Education, a company based in Swindon. At the workshop, the guests saw and experienced how VR can transform education through 360-degree virtual reality.
The 360-degree VR is a simulation that brings the user into a new environment, allowing them to see everything around from all directions. Utilizing this in teaching
brings the subject to reality for the students. They do not have to leave the classroom before experiencing what they learnt in theory.
Techs4Education went into partnership with Avantis Education, a group of committed education VR experts. The partnership enables them to provide affordable and sufficient VR solutions to schools and educational institutions around the area.
VR Centre to launch in Swindon
The launch of a VR centre is undoubtedly a significant addition to Swindon’s number of entertainment options. Since most people cannot afford to have VR equipment to use in their homes at the moment, the centre allows them to enjoy the experience at a cheaper rate.
VR Star, an experienced company in the world of virtual reality, launched its services on May 11, 2018, in the Brunel Shopping Centre. This has given people in Swindon the opportunity to enjoy what mixed reality and VR has to offer.
The gaming centre allows you to get different experiences, from the interactive and immersive games to the cinema rides where you sit and relax. Visitors can also choose their experience, depending on age groups. There are games and movies friendly for kids and others which are only suitable for adults.
Cinema Pods are also suitable for all, racing cars, shoot’em arcade games, and others. Parents who visit with kids can ask the staff for advice on which experience will be great for the kids.
360-Degree Virtual tour launched by STEAM Museum
STEAM partnered with Cognica Limited, a Swindon-based firm, to provide a high-resolution VR tour of the museum. The tour was inspired by the Swindon Borough Council’s commitment to remain connected with the public who aren’t able to visit STEAM during the COVID-19 lockdown.
The virtual tour was made available from April 20, 2020. It allows visitors to get a view of the iconic Great Western Railway (GWR) locomotives and all of the other museum’s exhibitions and displays right from home.
You can also enjoy original film footage, interactive and immersive games, quizzes, and home-school resources. To join the tour, you have to visit STEAM’s official website.
