Why not bring your buddy to one of our all-female fitness classes in Swindon and put our top tips into practise; we're all about the group exercise.
1. Reduce body fat - Burning bodyfat through a varied training programme that incorporates resistance, HIIT and core exercises is your best bet for encouraging your abs to make that eagerly anticipated appearance, and most important of all, combine your training schedule with good nutrition and you're on to a winner.
2. Show all your abs the love - it's really important to train the whole of your abdominal region, don't just focus on one area. Ensure you regularly mix up your core training with moves that target each area; our women's fitness programmes incorporate the moves you need to help you achieve the results you want.
3. Compound exercise is key - focusing solely on isolation exercises means your abs will miss out; compound exercise (squats, dead lifts, overhead presses) will work the whole abdominal region; engaging your core and improving your overall stability.
4. Do not over train - as with all areas of your body, your abs need rest so they can recover and repair; don’t make the mistake of training every day, this will actually hinder your results.
5. Don't forget about your form - we know that sometimes it can feel as though you're being punched in the gut when you're training; you just want to power through and get the job done! Try not to rush things, slow down and focus on your form, ensure you are engaging with every rep to maximise the results.
6. Progress your workouts - we often find that people don’t progress their core training, sticking with the same routine and getting frustrated by the lack of results. As with all muscle groups, your body adapts as you workout, which can make the same moves less effective the more you do them. To combat this, change up your routine every 2-3 weeks. Try new moves, add resistance or give new equipment a go - have you ever tried ab exercises on a TRX system? Give it a go and we're confident you'll really feel the difference!
