Lucas Romanek all set for 2023 race season at Castle Combe Circuit

Lucas Romanek has confirmed that he will compete in the Castle Combe Formula Ford Championship in 2023 with Oldfield Motorsport, along with continuing his Formula Ford National Campaign and the united series.

Lucas Romanek, still only 19, from Swindon, came to racing single seater Fords after a successful karting career, this being only his third year racing cars. 

In his first year, 2021, he won and became the Champion of Brands (Brand Hatch), finished 6th in the Walter Hayes Trophy in Silverstone and 2nd placed rookie in the national championship. 

Last year, 2022, he competed in the Formula Ford National Series and United Championship.? Winning in Silverstone, Brands Hatch, Snetterton, Anglesey and Knockhill.? Winning the Tourist Cup and receiving Driver of the Weekend at Croft and Anglesey.? He finished 3rd in the National and 2nd in the United series.? He was also lucky enough to participate in a GB4 race in Silverstone, winning in his maiden race weekend. 

Lucas said, ‘we have had a great year in 2022, we have now almost completed the development testing and feel that we will come back faster and stronger this year.  2023 looks like an even bigger race calendar than last year, incorporating a local track championship, Castle Combe, has been a conscious decision. I hope to drive further interest and passion for Formula Ford racing locally, I am very excited to see how many more fans we can attract to the track this year and see how I compete against very experienced Castle Combe racers. 

James Oldfield – team owner of Oldfield Motorsport said, “We’re delighted to have Lucas back racing with us again. He had a very strong season last year, and we are certainly looking forward to hitting the track again, for what will no doubt be another very competitive season of FF1600. Lucas is now in his 3rd full season of FF1600. With growing experience and maturity to go with his talent, we are confident of more great performances and results for Lucas in 2023.”
