Providing an update on the roadworks taking place at the Moonrakers junction, the council were unable to give a definitive date for the re-opening but explained that the closure will be in place until at least early November.
Starting work on September 14th, the roadworks aim to improve traffic flow and make the double mini-roundabout junction more accessible for buses, cyclist, and pedestrians passing through the area.
BT has already completed work on the junction, future-proofing the fibre optic network which services North Swindon, Cirencester, and Gloucester.
A spokesperson for the council gave an update on the road closure, saying:
“We would like to inform residents that we are having to extend the closure, as we are waiting for a utility company to complete the required work to bury their cables and pipework underground and build manholes.
“We will use this additional closure time to progress other work in the area faster, such as drainage work on this section of the junction, which will save time and reduce costs.”
